Just like the F/A-18 Super Hornet Tom Cruise flew in the movie ‘Top Gun,’ corporate content needs also can feel as if they go from 0 to 160 mph in two seconds!

One day you’re keeping pace and the next you could be pulling your hair out and ready to push the ejection seat button.

The need for more content could be a result of a big growth in your business, new regulations imposed or even from a merger or acquisition.

Use your LMS selection team to go over all the scenarios where content will be important now and in the future. If custom content is needed, will you have the bandwidth to accomplish this?

This is just one of many questions you’ll need to think about.

  • Does an LMS vendor offer off-the-shelf content?
  • Does the LMS provide SCORM-compliant formats?
  • Can you integrate with multiple content libraries?
  • Is there an option to mix traditional and micro-learning content?
  • Are there curated paths?
  • Is metadata included?

Another area to consider when it comes to content is how easily it can be imported/exported within the LMS? If you need to add a lot of content quickly, it’s imperative that this process works seamlessly.

As you can see, when it comes to content, a lot must be considered before selecting an LMS. But, when you know your business and plan accordingly, you’ll realize the benefits in quality content that can scale quickly, improve learner retention, engage employees and fulfill training requirements.
