Hands Up!
This was our initiative to encourage citizens to "participate, activate and create volunteering opportunities for themselves and others in their community!"

Perhaps one of our greatest accomplishments was our leadership in the planning, organizing and financing of Canada's first volunteer Expo and conference, Hands Up! ShareKnowledge is dedicated to enhancing the impact of our nonprofit sector. We do this in collaboration with nonprofit organizations, funders and major donors. Our work occurs at the organizational level with practical approaches to management challenges as well as at the community level through collaborative learning projects and knowledge dissemination to the community.

The Hands Up! Volunteer Expo was a first of its kind in Canada held on October 24 and 25, 2008 in Moncton NB. It offerred those of all ages, the ability to learn about the many volunteer opportunities in their community at a single event. As well, it was a community knowledge exchange for those in non-profit organizations to assist them in delivering services to our community with more understanding and success.

Hands Up! was a stress-free way for a person or family to explore potential volunteer opportunities. It was compared to shopping in a retail mall. You could simply browse at Hands Up! – you didn't have to buy. You could contact the non-profit or volunteer organization at your convenience to learn more. That’s was the advantage of Hands Up! Expo. Over 5800 attended and over 1100 signed up as new volunteers.
